Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald.<br \/>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p>The team then expanded this to well-known conspiracy theories. They found that more than 45% don\u2019t buy that Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald while 33% believe Martin Luther King was assassinated by the U.S. government.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p>Ultimately Garrett found that overall the results were as you would expect: People who believe the truth is political were much more likely to believe falsehoods. Whereas those who rely on hard evidence for their beliefs are less likely to fall foul of fake news.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p>What was really interesting though was a third connection they found which was that those who rely on intuition in order to learn the truth are more likely to endorse conspiracies or falsehoods.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"related-articles\">\n<h2 class=\"related-articles__title\">Related&#8230;<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p>\u201cWhile trusting your gut may be beneficial in some situations, it turns out that putting faith in intuition over evidence leaves us susceptible to misinformation,\u201d said Brian Weeks,\u00a0who worked on the research as an Ohio State graduate student.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p>This is important because it shows that people\u2019s decisions about whether something is true is not based solely on their political views or political bias.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p>\u201cMisperceptions don\u2019t always arise because people are blinded by what their party or favourite news outlet is telling them,\u201d says Garrett.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\"><\/div>\n<p>I hope you enjoy this writeup on <a href=\"http:\/\/147.91.204.66\/wordpress\/scientists-find-that-if-you-trust-your-gut-youre-more-likely-to-believe-fake-news\/\">Scientists Find That If You &#8216;Trust Your Gut&#8217;
