{"id":1854,"date":"2017-10-14T23:47:20","date_gmt":"2017-10-14T21:47:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/147.91.204.66\/wordpress\/no-apple-isnt-deliberately-slowing-your-iphone-so-youll-buy-a-new-one-and-heres-proof\/"},"modified":"2017-10-14T23:47:20","modified_gmt":"2017-10-14T21:47:20","slug":"no-apple-isnt-deliberately-slowing-your-iphone-so-youll-buy-a-new-one-and-heres-proof","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/147.91.204.66\/wordpress\/no-apple-isnt-deliberately-slowing-your-iphone-so-youll-buy-a-new-one-and-heres-proof\/","title":{"rendered":"No Apple Isn&#8217;t Deliberately Slowing Your iPhone So You&#8217;ll Buy A New One, And Here&#8217;s Proof"},"content":{"rendered":" <style>\r\n  .ui-tabs {display: table; }\r\n  .ui-tabs-nav {display: table;}\r\n \r\na.ui-tabs-anchor {\r\n\tfont-family: Tahoma;\r\n\tfont-size: 15px; \r\n\tcolor: #B52700;\r\n        margin: 5px 20px;\r\n}\r\n\r\ndiv.ui-tabs-panel {\r\n\tfont-family: Tahoma;\r\n\tfont-size: 14px;\r\n\tfont-weight: normal;\r\n\tcolor: #B35B22;\r\n}\r\n\r\n  <\/style><p>check out this post on No Apple Isn&#8217;t Deliberately Slowing Your iPhone So You&#8217;ll Buy A New One, And Here&#8217;s Proof<\/p>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p><span>Everyone loves a conspiracy theory &#8211; especially if said theory lets us all believe that we\u2019re unwilling victims being forced to hand over all our hard-earned money twice a year.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p><span>But unfortunately for everyone convinced that Apple is deliberately slowing down your iPhone to make you buy the newest model, it just isn\u2019t true.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"content-list-component image\"><img class=\"image__src\" src=\"https:\/\/img.huffingtonpost.com\/asset\/59df42532d0000265e309ec8.jpeg?cache=9pdtxzl3x1&amp;ops=scalefit_630_noupscale\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\nJack Taylor via Getty Images\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p><span>In spite of the seeming correlation between slowness and Apple\u2019s assembly line gearing up for the release of the next generation,\u00a0a new study has definitively shown\u00a0there is absolutely no truth in the claims.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p>The huge debunking comes courtesy of Futuremark, the company behind 3DMark &#8211; an app that tests the performance of smartphones and is designed to emulate how a real game would operate on your device.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p><span>Running a demanding series of tests, testing both GPU and CPU, the results (of which there are hundreds of thousands according to the testers) decisively show that phones don\u2019t just drop off a cliff as they reach a certain sell by date. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p><span>Looking at data for the iPhone 5s &#8211; the effect should be most obvious on devices that have been around longest, right?\u00a0Well as you can see from the chart below, there is seemingly, no effect.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"content-list-component image\"><img class=\"image__src\" src=\"https:\/\/img.huffingtonpost.com\/asset\/59df434c2d00009717309ecd.jpeg?ops=scalefit_630_noupscale\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\nFutureMark\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p><span>The data, shown in a variety of charts (you can see all of them right here) only has small fluctuations in performance over a long period of time.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p>In fact, these variations are so slight, according to FutureMark, that they would not be perceptible to a regular everyday user.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p><span>If that wasn\u2019t enough FutureMark go further than defending Apple and actually say that we should all be grateful for their extensive support for older models.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span><span>Our benchmarking data shows that, rather than intentionally degrading the performance of older models, Apple actually does a good job of supporting its older devices with regular updates that maintain a consistent level of performance across iOS versions,\u201d said a spokesperson.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p><span>So then &#8211; why do we perceive this to be the case?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p><span>It seems what is far more likely is that any software updates use more space, and require more processing and power, so it drains your phone more quickly.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-list-component text\">\n<p><span>Not only that, but every time you update non-Apple apps, they are likely to take up more and more space.
